Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 large eggs
1/2 c whole milk
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
4 slice raisin bread (wonder is best)
1/2 c apple pie filling
1 Tbsp butter
additional butter
powered sugar (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. In a large baking dish, whisk eggs, milk, and cinnamon, set aside. Make 2 sandwiches with the bread and apple pie filling. Place sandwiches into egg mixture. Let soak until egg mixture is completely absorbed into the bread, turning sandwiches once. Takes about 3 minutes.
  • 2. On a griddle over medium-high heat, melt 1 tablespoon butter. Cook sandwiches on the griddle until brown and heated through, about 4 minutes per side.
  • 3. Cut each sandwich in half. Transfer to plates and serve with additional butter. Top with powdered sugar if desired.

Tips:

  • To make the sandwiches ahead of time, assemble them and wrap them tightly in plastic wrap. Store them in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. When you're ready to serve, heat them in a preheated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 15-20 minutes, or until warmed through.
  • If you don't have any raisins on hand, you can substitute another dried fruit, such as cranberries, cherries, or apricots.
  • For a sweeter sandwich, add a drizzle of maple syrup or honey to the apples before cooking them.
  • If you're using a different type of bread, adjust the cooking time accordingly. For example, if you're using a thicker bread, you may need to cook the sandwiches for a few minutes longer.
  • Serve the sandwiches with your favorite toppings, such as butter, jam, or cream cheese.

Conclusion:

French apple raisin breakfast sandwiches are a delicious and easy-to-make breakfast option that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They're perfect for busy mornings when you're short on time, or for a leisurely weekend brunch. With a few simple ingredients, you can create a tasty and satisfying breakfast sandwich that will help you start your day off right.
