SLOW SMOKED COUNTRY STYLE BBQ RIBS

Slow Smoked Country Style BBQ Ribs image

What to do with your leftover BBQ country style ribs? Make a Johnson's Boucaniere "Techneaux Special" grilled cheese sandwich! Take a basic hamburger bun and cover each side with a slice of your favorite cheese, place some pulled rib meat in between and pour on some more BBQ sauce. Cook in a buttered pan or griddle or use a press to get the best results. This will be one of the best grilled sandwiches you will ever eat!

Provided by Food Network

Categories     main-dish

Time 8h

Yield 8 to 10 servings

Number Of Ingredients 4

One 5-pound Boston pork butt, cut into country-style ribs
Your favorite spice rub, for coating ribs
Kansas City-style BBQ sauce (preferably without liquid smoke), for slathering on ribs
Apple juice, as needed, optional

Steps:

  • Prepare a smoker or set up a grill for indirect heat to 200 to 225 degrees F. I use oak wood for my smoke, but pecan or cherry wood also work well.
  • Rinse and then pat dry the ribs. Place in a rectangular pan and coat with a liberal amount of rub on all sides, shaking off any excess. Smoke or grill the ribs for 3 to 4 hours. If the grill or smoker becomes too hot, open the lid and spray the ribs with apple juice, otherwise do not open the lid. If you're looking, you're not cooking.
  • Remove the ribs, wrap in heavy-duty foil and cover tightly. Return to the smoker or grill for another 2 to 3 hours. Pour the BBQ sauce into a squirt bottle. Uncover the ribs and generously apply BBQ sauce. Reduce the temperature to 150 to 175 degrees F. Once the sauce has "melded" to the ribs, remove and let rest. That's it, good luck.

CROCK POT COUNTRY STYLE RIBS WITH MAPLE BBQ SAUCE

Crock Pot Country Style Ribs With Maple BBQ Sauce image

Loved this BBQ sauce on these ribs. They came out sooo tender. I love how easy this dish is to put together too ... makes you wonder why you spend time over a hot grill.

Provided by Dana Ramsey

Categories     Ribs

Time 6h20m

Number Of Ingredients 15

3 lb country style pork ribs
garlic seasoning
everglades seasoning
1 c ketchup
1 Tbsp brown sugar
4 Tbsp pure maple syrup
1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 Tbsp Dijon mustard
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
2 tsp low sodium soy sauce
1 1/2 tsp hot pepper sauce, your choice (I used Texas Pete)
1 1/2 strips of cooked bacon, chopped
dash of salt and some freshly ground pepper
mesquite liquid smoke

Steps:

  • 1. Ribs: Sprinkle both sides with the garlic powder and Everglades seasoning. Place a paper towel over top and allow to rest while you make the sauce.
  • 2. Sauce: Place all ingredients, except chopped bacon and the liquid smoke, in a saucepan. Mix well and heat stirring occasionally. Do not allow to burn. Once it begins to come to a soft boil, remove from heat, stir in bacon bits. Place the sauce in a bowl or glass measuring cup and cover with Saran Wrap. Set aside. (Do not refrigerate)
  • 3. Spray your Crock Pot with cooking spray. Place ribs in and sprinkle with the mesquite liquid smoke. I used a cap full. Cook on low for 4 1/2 hours.
  • 4. Check meat after the 4 1/2 hours. Should be a little pink. Drain the liquid and cover the ribs with the BBQ sauce and cook for another 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
  • 5. My Crock Pot cooks a little hotter than normal so you may have to adjust your times or cook until a meat thermometer reads 145°. I must add that your house is going to smell so yummy while this is cooking. Enjoy.

2 tablespoons lemon zest
3 tablespoons black pepper
1 tablespoon paprika (smoked is great)
RIBS:
4 pounds country style pork ribs
3 cups ketchup
1 1/2 cups beer
3/4 cup cider vinegar
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon prepared yellow mustard
2 tablespoons brown sugar (more to taste)
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon basil
1 teaspoon thyme
1 teaspoon black pepper

Steps:

  • Dry Rub: Combine salt, brown sugar, sugar, lemon zest, black pepper and paprika in small bowl. Ribs: Rub dry rub all over the ribs. Put them in a glass baking dish and cover with stretch wrap. Refrigerate several hours or overnight. Stir together ketchup, beer, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, brown sugar, oregano, basil, thyme and pepper. Put one cup of the sauce on the side to use later as a glaze. Put the ribs in a dutch oven or covered heavy pot that will accommodate them, pour the sauce over the ribs and cook over low heat for about 45 minutes or until the ribs are tender. (You can do this a day ahead and refrigerate the ribs if you are having a party). Prepare your grill or preheat your broiler. Remove the ribs from the sauce and discard the sauce. Spread the ribs with half the sauce that you reserved. Cook the ribs on the grill or under the broiler till crispy and browned, turn over and sauce the other side. It will take about 3-5 minutes on each side for them to glaze and caramelize and get yummy. Serve with tons of napkins!!

BBQ COUNTRY PORK RIBS

BBQ Country Pork Ribs image

These country style ribs are so tender, juicy and simple to make. If you don't like to cook with alcohol you can use apple cider or juice and these come out just as good.

Provided by Dawn Whitted

Categories     Ribs

Time 4h20m

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 lb country style pork ribs
2 tsp garlic salt, with parsley
1 Tbsp onion powder
2 Tbsp mrs. dash garlic & herb season blend
1 tsp black pepper
2 Tbsp olive oil or vegetable oil
1 medium yellow onion, peeled & chopped
1 medium jalapeno, deveined, seeded & chopped
1 can(s) 12oz beer i used mgd
2 clove garlic, minced
1/4 c water
1/2 bottle bbq sauce (your favorite)

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat large skillet with olive oil on medium heat. Season pork ribs with pepper, onion powder & Mrs. Dash season blend.
  • 2. Brown pork in skillet for 5 minutes or so on each side. Just until they start to brown.
  • 3. Slice onion & jalepeno and spread evenly over bottom of crock pot & place browned pork ribs on top of the onions and pepper.
  • 4. Deglaze the skillet with a few ounces of beer and add minced garlic and pour this over pork in crockpot.
  • 5. Add the remaining beer to the crockpot plus 1/4 - 1/2 C water so it's slightly below the top of the ribs. Cover and set crockpot on low for 4-5 hours.
  • 6. The last 30 minutes of cooking I usually drain off all but 1/4 C liquid with a turkey baster or ladel. Then add BBQ Sauce (we like Cookies)or your own homemade sauce would work. Cover and let the ribs heat with the sauce for 20-30 minutes or so. I serve these with xtra BBQ Sauce, a baked potato and dinner salad or coleslaw. But anything would go great with them. This also makes really great leftover pulled pork sammies...Yum!

Tips:

  • Choose the right ribs: Country-style ribs are the best choice for this recipe. They are meatier and have more flavor than other types of ribs.
  • Use a good quality BBQ sauce: The BBQ sauce is what really makes this dish, so it's important to use a high-quality sauce that you enjoy. You can make your own BBQ sauce or use a store-bought sauce.
  • Cook the ribs low and slow: This will help to tenderize the ribs and allow the flavors to meld together.
  • Don't overcook the ribs: Overcooked ribs will be tough and dry. Cook them until they are just tender enough to fall off the bone.
  • Serve the ribs with your favorite sides: Some popular sides for BBQ ribs include coleslaw, potato salad, and baked beans.

Conclusion:

BBQ country ribs are a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for any occasion. By following these tips, you can make sure that your ribs turn out perfect every time. So fire up your grill and get cooking!
