WHITE WHOLE WHEAT SANDWICH BREAD

White Whole Wheat Sandwich Bread image

This bread makes great sandwich bread or toast and my kids have no idea that it isn't just "White Bread"! I usually make the dough in the bread machine and bake it in the oven. It is light enough to slice thinly, if you can wait to eat it and cut cool!

Categories     Yeast Breads

Time 3h5m

Yield 1 loaf, 10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 1/2 teaspoons yeast
2 cups bread flour
1 cup white whole wheat flour
1 tablespoon vital wheat gluten
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup water
olive oil flavored cooking spray

Steps:

  • Add ingredients in the order listed to your bread machine, use dough cycle.
  • Reshape in loaf form in a loaf pan sprayed with olive oil spray.
  • Let bread rise again, by covering with a damp cotten cloth in a warm place.
  • Bake at 375 for 33 minutes.
  • Remove from pan when hot and rub crust with a cold stick of butter.
  • Bake in a greased pan at 375 degrees for 33 minutes.

Tips:

  • Use a digital kitchen scale: Measuring ingredients by weight is more accurate than measuring by volume, which can lead to more consistent results.
  • Don't overmix the dough: Overmixing can develop the gluten in the flour too much, resulting in a tough, chewy bread. Mix the dough just until it comes together and forms a cohesive ball.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm place: The ideal temperature for rising dough is between 75°F and 85°F. If your kitchen is too cool, you can place the dough in a warm oven with the light on.
  • Bake the bread until it reaches an internal temperature of 190°F: This will ensure that the bread is cooked through without overbaking.
  • Let the bread cool completely before slicing: This will help to prevent the bread from tearing.

Conclusion:

White whole wheat bread is a delicious and healthy alternative to traditional white bread. It's packed with nutrients like fiber, protein, and vitamins, and it has a slightly nutty flavor that pairs well with a variety of toppings. If you're looking for a healthier way to enjoy your favorite bread recipes, give white whole wheat bread a try.
