2 lbs frozen hash browns
1/2 cup melted butter
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 (8 ounce) carton sour cream
1 (10 1/2 ounce) can cream of chicken soup or 1 (10 1/2 ounce) can cream of celery soup
1 (15 ounce) jar Cheez Whiz or 2 cups grated cheese
2 cups crushed corn flakes
1/4 cup melted butter

Steps:

  • Defrost potatoes and place into a 3-quart casserole dish.
  • Combine butter, salt, pepper, onion, soup, sour cream and cheese.
  • Mix thoroughly.
  • Pour over potatoes.
  • Mix 1/4 cup melted butter with corn flakes; sprinkle over top.
  • Cover and bake at 450°F for 45 minutes.

This recipe was handed down to me by an old friend of mine. It's really very good and easy. I hope that you will enjoy it.

2 lb hashbrowns, thawed
1/2 c butter, melted
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/2 c onions, chopped
1 can(s) cream of chicken soup or cream of celery soup
8 oz sour cream
2 c cheddar cheese, grated
1/4 c butter, melted
2 c plain, crushed cornflakes

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place defrosted potatoes in a casserole dish. Combine butter, salt, pepper, onion, soup, sour cream and cheese. Mix together thoroughly. Pour over potatoes Mix the 1/4 cup of butter and the crushed corn flakes and sprinkle over the top. Cover and bake for 45 minutes.
  • 2. If you want to make this a meal instead of a side, all you have to do is add a pound of chopped ham in with the potatoes. Pour the cheese mixture on top.

Tips:

  • For crispy potatoes, use a combination of russet and Yukon Gold potatoes.
  • Cut the potatoes into 1-inch cubes for even cooking.
