1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons shortening
3 tablespoons milk
2 tablespoons butter, melted, divided

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450°. In a small bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and salt; cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add milk, tossing with a fork until a ball forms. , Turn onto a lightly floured surface; knead 5-6 times. Roll or pat to 1/2-in. thickness; cut with a 2-1/2-in. biscuit cutter. Place on a greased baking sheet. Brush tops with 1 tablespoon butter. Bake until golden brown, 9-11 minutes. Brush with remaining butter. Serve warm.

1 cup rolled oats
1 cup plain flour
1 cup caster sugar
1/2 cup desiccated coconut
1 cup sesame seeds
3 tablespoons margarine
2 tablespoons golden syrup
1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1 tablespoon hot water

Steps:

  • Melt Margarine and Golden Syrup over low heat or in the microwave.
  • Mix Bicarb Soda with water and add to margarine and syrup mix.
  • Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl.
  • Mix margarine and syrup through.
  • Place small balls onto lightly greased trays and flatten slightly.
  • Bake 150 deg celcius for 15 minutes.
  • Allow to cool on trays.

2 cups packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour

1kg red-skinned potato , such as Desirée, skins left on and cut into wedges
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp garlic granules (we used Bart)
juice 2 lemons
150ml vegetable or chicken stock
2 tbsp sesame seed

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6. Put the wedges in a single layer in a roasting tin. Whisk together the olive oil, oregano, garlic granules, lemon juice and stock. Pour the liquid over the potatoes, ensuring they are well coated. Season and bake for 1 hr, stirring every 15 mins so they don't stick to the tin.
