TOSTADAS

Tostadas image

Although tostadas do not typically have meat in them, this recipe does. Ground beef is usually used for tacos, refried beans in tostadas and a mixture of the two for burritos. I leave it up to you how you wish to enjoy your Mexican. Please feel free to take liberties with this recipe in regards to your own tastes.

Tips:

  • For the best flavor, use high-quality flank steak. Look for a piece of meat that is evenly marbled and has a deep red color.
  • Slice the steak against the grain for more tender results.
  • Marinate the steak for at least 30 minutes to help tenderize it and infuse it with flavor.
  • Cook the steak over high heat to get a nice sear. This will help to lock in the juices and flavor.
  • Don't overcook the steak. It should be cooked to medium-rare or medium for the best results.
  • Let the steak rest for a few minutes before slicing it. This will help the juices to redistribute throughout the meat.
  • Use fresh tortillas for the tostadas. This will give them a crispy texture.
  • Load up the tostadas with your favorite toppings. Some good options include shredded cheese, avocado, salsa, and sour cream.
  • Serve the tostadas immediately while they're still hot and crispy.
