Skillet Hash Browns Homemade image

The secret to this is to use cold cooked potatoes, a cast-iron skillet and don't over stir while they brown in the skillet, this makes a great accompaniment to eggs, prep time does not included overnight chilling time.

I'm not sure what I did wrong, but my hash browns turned out burnt. Maybe I should have used a lower heat.

I love hash browns but I'm not a fan of the greasy mess they usually make. This recipe is a game-changer - the hash browns are crispy and delicious without being greasy.

I've made skillet hash browns many times before, but this recipe is by far the best. The secret is in the shredded potatoes - they cook up so much better than diced potatoes.

These skillet hash browns were a hit with my family! They were crispy and golden brown on the outside, and fluffy and tender on the inside. I used russet potatoes, but I think Yukon Golds would also work well.
