I came across this recipe in 1992 from Classic Baking with Hershey's. Just love this one. A chocolate dream.

Steps:
- 1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour (2) 9 inch round baking pans or (1) 13x9x2 baking pan.
- 2. In large mixer bowl, stir together sugar, flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Add eggs, coffee, buttermilk, oil and vanilla; beat on medium speed of electric mixer 2 minutes (batter will be thin). Pour patter into prepared pan(s).
- 3. Bake 30 to 35 minutes for round pans, 35 to 40 minutes for rectangular pan or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans to wire racks. Cool completely. Frost as desired.
- 4. *To sour milk: Use 1 Tablespoon white vinegar plus milk to equal 1 cup. For buttermilk I use powdered buttermilk that I push through a small screened strainer adding it to the dry ingredients, following the directions to make 1 cup buttermilk.
