PARMESAN & CHIPOTLE POPCORN

Parmesan & Chipotle Popcorn image

Provided by Ina Garten

Time 10m

Yield 3 to 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 bag microwave popcorn, such as Newman's Own Natural
4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted
1/2 cup finely grated Italian Parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon chipotle chile powder
2 teaspoons fleur de sel

Steps:

  • Microwave the popcorn for 3 to 5 minutes, according to the directions on the package, until the popcorn stops popping. Carefully pour the hot popcorn into a large bowl and immediately pour on the butter, then the Parmesan, chile powder, and salt. Toss well and serve hot.

Tips:

  • Use Freshly Grated Parmesan Cheese: Freshly grated Parmesan cheese provides the best flavor and texture for this popcorn recipe. Pre-grated cheese often contains additives and preservatives that can affect the taste and texture of the popcorn.
  • Control the Heat: Use medium heat when making the popcorn to prevent the cheese from burning. Stir the popcorn continuously to ensure even cooking and prevent the cheese from clumping.
  • Don't Overcook the Popcorn: Once the popcorn starts popping, remove it from the heat immediately to prevent overcooking. Overcooked popcorn will be tough and chewy.
  • Add the Cheese Mixture Immediately: While the popcorn is still hot, add the melted cheese mixture and toss to coat. This will help the cheese adhere to the popcorn and create a delicious, cheesy coating.
  • Use a Large Bowl: Use a large bowl to toss the popcorn with the cheese mixture. This will ensure that all the popcorn is evenly coated.
  • Add Additional Seasonings: Feel free to add additional seasonings to the popcorn, such as garlic powder, onion powder, or chili powder, to taste.

Conclusion:

Parmesan pepper popcorn is a delicious and addictive snack that is perfect for movie nights, parties, or simply enjoying at home. With its combination of cheesy, peppery, and buttery flavors, this popcorn is sure to be a hit with everyone. Give this recipe a try and elevate your popcorn experience to the next level.
