I ran across this today and think I'm going to try this for a fall treat. Haven't tried it yet, but it sounds wonderful! Came across it on www.popcorn.org. I kind of estimated and put the cooling time as the cooking time and everything else is preparation. Let me know if you find something more accurate.

I fixed a double batch of this for six of us as we vacationed in Branson. It was a perfect ending in front of the fireplace after a long day of shopping!

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 6

5 c popped popcorn
2 Tbsp brown sugar
2 Tbsp maple syrup
1 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1 Tbsp butter
1/2 c chopped pecans (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. In a large saucepan or pot, heat brown sugar, maple syrup and pumpkin pie spice mix over medium heat.
  • 2. Cook , stirring, 3 minutes or until sugar is dissolved and mixture is bubbling.
  • 3. Stir in butter until melted and well blended.
  • 4. Add pecans, if desired, and popcorn and stir until well coated.
  • 5. Allow mixture to cool before serving. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container.

Tips:

  • Choose the right popcorn kernels. Popcorn kernels come in a variety of shapes and sizes. For this recipe, you'll want to use butterfly popcorn kernels, which are the most common type of popcorn kernel. They're also the easiest to pop and have a light, fluffy texture.
  • Use fresh maple syrup. The fresher the maple syrup, the better the flavor of your popcorn will be. Look for maple syrup that is Grade A or higher and has a dark amber color.
  • Don't overcrowd the popcorn maker. If you overcrowd the popcorn maker, the popcorn will not pop evenly and you'll end up with a lot of unpopped kernels.
  • Be patient. It takes a few minutes for the popcorn to pop. Don't try to rush the process by opening the lid of the popcorn maker. Just wait until the popping slows down to a stop.
  • Season the popcorn immediately. As soon as the popcorn is finished popping, season it with the maple syrup, pumpkin pie spice, and salt. This will help the seasonings stick to the popcorn and give it a delicious flavor.

Conclusion:

This maple pumpkin spice popcorn is a delicious and easy-to-make snack that is perfect for fall. It's also a great way to use up any leftover maple syrup and pumpkin pie spice that you may have. So next time you're looking for a sweet and savory snack, give this maple pumpkin spice popcorn a try. You won't be disappointed!
