Tips:

  • Choose ripe, firm avocados: Ripe avocados will yield to gentle pressure when squeezed. Avoid avocados that are too soft or have dark spots.
  • Use a sharp knife: A sharp knife will help you to make clean, even cuts and avoid squishing the avocado.
  • Remove the pit carefully: To remove the pit, cut the avocado in half lengthwise and twist the halves apart. Use a spoon to scoop out the pit.
  • Mash the avocado with a fork: Use a fork to mash the avocado until it reaches your desired consistency. If you want a smooth guacamole, mash the avocado until it is completely creamy. If you prefer a chunky guacamole, mash the avocado until it is just slightly chunky.
  • Add your favorite seasonings: Add salt, pepper, lime juice, and cilantro to taste. You can also add other seasonings, such as garlic, onion, or chili powder.
  • Serve immediately or store for later: Guacamole is best served fresh, but it can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. To store guacamole, place it in an airtight container and cover the surface with plastic wrap.
