EASY KIELBASA SKILLET DINNER

Easy Kielbasa Skillet Dinner image

The house always smells awesome while this very tasty, filling meal is cooking. It makes kielbasa worth stocking up on when it goes on sale and uses basic/cheap ingredients overall. Vary the vegetables depending on what you have on hand. For example add/replace broccoli with a can of corn and/or peas, etc. If you like a little heat, sprinkle a little hot sauce on top after it's cooked. This should make about 4 servings, but it almost always turns out to be split into 2 large servings between the me and the boyfriend. We like to crisp up/brown the kielbasa slightly before adding the vegetables.

KIELBASA WITH BEER AND ONIONS

My husband loves this dish.

Categories     Pork

Time 6h5m

Number Of Ingredients 4

12 oz brown ale or beer
2 medium onions cut into quarters
2 kielbasa cut into pieces
1/2 c each brown sugar and honey mustard

Steps:

  • 1. Mix the beer brown sugar and honey mustard together in a crock pot. Add the kielbasa and onions. Cook on low for 6 hours.

Tips:

  • Use a good quality kielbasa for the best flavor. Look for one that is made with fresh pork and has a nice smoky flavor.
  • Slice the kielbasa into thick rounds for even cooking. You want the pieces to be big enough to hold their shape but not so thick that they take too long to cook.
  • Use a variety of onions for a more complex flavor. Yellow onions, white onions, and red onions all work well.
  • Cook the onions over medium heat until they are caramelized. This will bring out their natural sweetness and make them more flavorful.
  • Don't crowd the pan when cooking the kielbasa and onions. If the pan is too crowded, the food will steam instead of fry and you will end up with soggy kielbasa and onions.
  • Cook the kielbasa and onions for about 15 minutes, or until the kielbasa is cooked through and the onions are caramelized.
  • Serve the kielbasa and onions with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, sauerkraut, or a green salad.

Conclusion:

Kielbasa with Beer and Onions is a classic dish that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. The kielbasa is cooked in beer and onions until it is tender and flavorful, and the onions are caramelized and sweet. This dish is perfect for a casual get-together or a special occasion.
