HOLLY WREATHS
I've never come across another spritz cookie like this - one calling for cream cheese as an ingredient. That helps to keep these wreaths moist a long time, while also adding a delicious flavor. -Dee Lein, Longmont, Colorado

Steps:
- 1. In a large saucepan, melt the butter and marshmallows. Stir frequently until you have a smooth mixture.
- 2. Turn off heat and add the vanilla and green food coloring. Stir until blended. Don't worry that the mixture is too green - it will be!
- 3. Stir in the corn flakes until all are coated. Use a folding motion so you don't smash the corn flakes too much.
- 4. Using 2 teaspoons, drop a heaping teaspoon of the mixture onto waxed paper sprinkled with powdered sugar. (I use a sifter to get the sugar onto the paper lightly, since you don't need a lot of the powdered sugar, just a light dusting.)
- 5. Work quickly so the mixture doesn't set up, which makes it hard to get them out of the pan. This recipe can be doubled, but I would recommend you try a single recipe first so you can see how they tend to start setting up.
- 6. After all the holly wreaths are out on the waxed paper, add 1-2 cinnamon decors to simulate the holly berries. (I recommend leaving off the cinnamon candies for small children).
- 7. Let the wreaths sit for about 1-2 hours to dry a bit. Then store in a container on waxed paper. You can make several layers in your container. Hint: if the bottom of the wreath seems too sticky after letting them sit, then lift them off the waxed paper with a spatula and dip the bottom into more powdered sugar before you store them.

Tips for Crafting Beautiful Holly Wreaths:
- Choose Fresh, Vibrant Holly: Select holly branches with deep green leaves and bright red berries. Avoid branches with brown or yellowing leaves, as they will not last as long.
- Trim and Prepare the Holly: Remove any thorns or sharp edges from the holly branches to ensure safe handling. Cut the branches into desired lengths, typically between 6 to 12 inches.
- Create a Sturdy Base: Use a wire wreath frame as the base for your holly wreath. Choose a frame that is the desired size and shape for your wreath.
- Attach the Holly: Begin attaching the holly branches to the wire frame using florist wire or thin gauge wire. Start by securing the branches at the bottom of the frame, then work your way around the wreath, overlapping the branches as you go.
- Add Embellishments: Personalize your holly wreath with festive embellishments such as ribbons, bells, pinecones, or small ornaments. Attach the embellishments securely to the wreath using wire or hot glue.
- Hang and Enjoy: Once your holly wreath is complete, hang it on your front door, above the fireplace, or in any desired location to add a touch of holiday cheer to your home.
Conclusion:
Creating holly wreaths is a delightful and rewarding holiday tradition that brings beauty and festive cheer to your home. With careful selection of fresh holly branches, proper preparation, and creative embellishments, you can craft stunning holly wreaths that will add a touch of elegance and charm to your holiday decorations.
