Yield 4 cocktails

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 ripe yellow peaches
2 tablespoons sugar
6 sprigs thyme, plus more for garnish
4 dashes of bitters
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
6 ounces bourbon

Steps:

  • Quarter peaches and grill until charred. Muddle sugar, thyme, bitters, and lime juice in a cocktail shaker. Add bourbon, and divide among 4 ice-filled glasses. Garnish with peach section and thyme sprigs.

Tips:

  • Ice is key: Use large ice cubes or spheres to prevent dilution. Crushed ice will water down your drink more quickly.
  • Choose your whiskey wisely: A good bourbon or rye whiskey is essential for a classic Old Fashioned. Experiment with different brands and flavors to find one you like.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment with bitters: Different bitters can add unique flavors to your Old Fashioned. Try different types, such as Angostura, orange, or chocolate bitters, to find your favorite combination.
  • Garnish with a twist: A classic Old Fashioned is typically garnished with an orange twist. You can also use a lemon twist or a cherry.
  • Conclusion:

The Grilled New & Old Fashioneds are a delicious and refreshing twist on the classic Old Fashioned cocktail. By grilling the oranges and cherries, you can add a smoky flavor that perfectly complements the whiskey and bitters.
