Air Fryer Crispy Fish Tacos with Slaw image

Unlike most fish taco recipes, the slaw in this recipe is air-fried instead of raw creating a caramelized version which leaves the fish to be the crispy star of the show.

GLUTEN-FREE CRISPY CAJUN FISH FILLETS IN THE AIR FRYER

Gluten-Free Crispy Cajun Fish Fillets in the Air Fryer image

Cajun fish fillets made in the air fryer pack just enough heat and are perfectly crispy using gluten-free panko bread crumbs. I serve these as sandwiches on a gluten-free bun with lettuce, tomatoes, tartar sauce, and Cheddar cheese slices. Alternatively, you can skip the bun and serve in lettuce wraps or with a salad.

Tips:

  • Choose the Right Fish: For best results, select firm-fleshed fish fillets or steaks. Some popular options include salmon, cod, tilapia, and catfish.
  • Season Simply: A simple seasoning of salt, pepper, and lemon juice is often all you need to enhance the natural flavor of the fish. You can also add herbs like thyme, rosemary, or oregano for extra flavor.
  • Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheating the air fryer ensures that the fish cooks evenly. Most air fryers take a few minutes to preheat.
  • Cook in a Single Layer: To ensure even cooking, place the fish in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Avoid overcrowding.
  • Flip Halfway Through: For best results, flip the fish halfway through the cooking time to ensure even browning and cooking.
  • Check for Doneness: The cooking time will vary depending on the thickness of the fish and your desired level of doneness. Use a meat thermometer to check that the internal temperature of the fish has reached 145°F (63°C) for safety.
  • Serve Immediately: For the best flavor and texture, serve the air-fried fish immediately after cooking.

Conclusion:

Using an air fryer to cook fish is a healthier and more convenient alternative to traditional methods like frying or baking. With its quick cooking time, minimal oil usage, and ability to achieve crispy exteriors and tender interiors, the air fryer produces delicious and nutritious fish dishes. Whether you're a seasoned cook or just starting out, give these air fryer fish recipes a try for a flavorful and hassle-free meal.
