1 (4 ounce) can sliced mushrooms, drained
1 ½ tablespoons butter
1 ½ tablespoons cream cheese, softened
salt and cracked black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Drain most of the water from the green beans. Place beans in a saucepan over medium heat and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Add mushrooms and simmer an additional 5 minutes.
  • Add butter and cream cheese. Stir until melted and well incorporated, 3 to 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

I've been to several covered dish events where an inexperienced cook brought unseasoned green beans straight out of the can. So I thought there may be someone who would like some help with canned green beans. A simple recipe for a quick meal.

2 can(s) cut green beans (14.5 oz cans)
1 1/2 tsp chicken bouillon granules (i use wyler's)
1 Tbsp butter
1 tsp seasoned salt (i use lawry's)
1/2 tsp pepper
1 Tbsp dry minced onions

Steps:

  • 1. NOTE: this recipe is intended for green beans from a can.
  • 2. Drain juice off green beans. Rinse beans well with cold water.
  • 3. Place beans in sauce pan and add just enough cold tap water to barely cover beans.
  • 4. Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil for 1 minute.
  • 5. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 - 20 minutes. Stir once or twice while cooking.
