This is a very low-fat, low-calorie salad. I make it all year long, but it is especially great for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Just freeze a few bags of cranberries to use at a later date. I know this will become a tradition to anyone who tries it, it's delicious! Originally submitted to ThanksgivingRecipe.com.

Tips:

  • For the Best Flavor: Use a variety of apples, such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Braeburn. The different flavors and textures will add depth to the salad.
  • Make Ahead: You can make this salad up to 24 hours in advance. Just store it in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
  • Toasted Walnuts: Toasting the walnuts brings out their flavor and makes them more crunchy. You can toast them in a skillet over medium heat or in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 5-7 minutes.
  • Use Fresh Cranberries: Fresh cranberries are best for this salad, but you can use frozen cranberries if you don't have any fresh ones on hand. Just be sure to thaw them before using.
  • Adjust the Sweetness: If you find the salad is too tart, you can add a little bit of honey or maple syrup.

Conclusion:

This Cranberry Waldorf Salad with Yogurt is a delicious and healthy salad that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be made ahead of time, making it a great option for busy weeknights. The combination of sweet and tart flavors, along with the crunchy walnuts and creamy yogurt, makes this salad a winner.
