½ cup whole milk
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour, plus 3 tablespoons, divided
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon garlic powder
½ cup grated parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon yeast
2 tablespoons olive oil, plus more as needed
2 ½ cups chicken, cooked, shredded
2 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
½ cup grated parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon pepper
2 cups alfredo sauce
1 egg, beaten
3 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Steps:

  • In a microwave-proof liquid measuring cup, combine the water and the milk. Microwave on high for 45 seconds.
  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, garlic powder, Parmesan, and yeast. Mix thoroughly. Pour the milk mixture over the dry ingredients. Stir to combine. Knead the dough on a clean surface for 5 minutes until smooth, if the dough is sticking to the surface add olive oil 1 teaspoon at a time, then form into a tight ball.

Pinch the dough and pull it while twisting, wrapping the dough into little spirals and placing it onto the rolled edge of the dough. Continue all the way around until you have several little spirals of dough.

  • Bake for 30 minutes, until the crust is golden brown.

Tips:

  • To make the chicken bacon alfredo bread boat, start by preparing the bread bowl. Cut a round loaf of bread in half horizontally and hollow out the center. Brush the inside with olive oil and garlic butter, then bake until golden brown and crispy.
  • While the bread is baking, cook the chicken and bacon. Season the chicken with salt, pepper, and garlic powder, then cook in a skillet until browned. Add the bacon and cook until crispy. Remove the chicken and bacon from the skillet and set aside.
  • Make the alfredo sauce by melting butter in a saucepan, then whisking in flour until smooth. Gradually whisk in milk until the sauce is thickened. Stir in Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper, then bring to a simmer. Add the cooked chicken and bacon to the sauce and stir to combine.
  • Pour the Alfredo sauce into the prepared bread bowl. Top with additional Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley. Serve immediately with a side of garlic bread or salad.
  • For a more flavorful bread bowl, use a sourdough or Italian loaf. You can also add herbs or spices to the olive oil and garlic butter mixture before brushing it on the bread.
  • If you don't have time to make the Alfredo sauce from scratch, you can use a jarred Alfredo sauce instead. Just be sure to heat it through before adding it to the bread bowl.
  • This recipe is also a great way to use up leftover chicken and bacon. Simply shred or chop the chicken and bacon and add it to the Alfredo sauce.

Conclusion:

The Chicken Bacon Alfredo Bread Boat is a delicious and easy-to-make meal that is perfect for any occasion. It's perfect for a party, potluck, or even a weeknight dinner. The crispy bread bowl is filled with a creamy and flavorful Alfredo sauce, tender chicken, and crispy bacon. It's a surefire hit with everyone who tries it!
