Number Of Ingredients 5

9 ounces crispy rice cereal
1 (11 ounce) package caramel bits (such as Kraft®)
½ cup butter
1 (16 ounce) package marshmallows

Steps:

  • Prepare a baking dish and a large mixing bowl with non-stick cooking spray. Pour cereal into a large mixing bowl and set next to your stove.
  • Heat caramel bits and butter together in a large saucepan over low heat until both are melted and the mixture is smooth, about 5 minutes; add marshmallows. Continue to cook the mixture, stirring regularly, until the marshmallows are melted and the mixture is smooth, about 5 minutes; pour immediately into the middle of the cereal in the bowl and quickly stir to coat cereal completely.
  • Spread the coated cereal into the prepared baking dish. Spray the back of a spoon with cooking spray and use it to press the cereal into an even layer. Let cereal cool completely before cutting into squares.

Tips:

  • Use fresh apples. Fresh apples provide the best flavor and texture for these treats. If you can't find fresh apples, you can use frozen or canned apples, but the flavor and texture will not be as good.
  • Don't overcook the caramel. If you overcook the caramel, it will become too thick and hard. Cook the caramel until it is a light golden brown color and has a slightly thick consistency.
  • Be careful when adding the caramel to the Rice Krispies. The caramel is very hot, so it's important to be careful when adding it to the Rice Krispies. Stir gently to combine.
  • Let the treats cool completely before cutting them. This will help them to hold their shape better.

Conclusion:

Caramel apple Rice Krispies treats are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that are perfect for any occasion. They're made with just a few simple ingredients and can be customized to your liking. Whether you like them plain or with added nuts, fruits, or chocolate, these treats are sure to be a hit.
