Time 20m

Yield 2-4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 garlic clove, minced
1/2 teaspoon hot red pepper flakes (to taste)
2 teaspoons olive oil
1 head broccoflower, trimmed (about 2 pounds) or 1 head broccoli, cut into 1-inch flowerets
1 cup water
2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
5 large fresh basil leaves, cut into thin strips
1 tablespoon parmesan cheese, freshly grated

Steps:

  • In a large skillet cook garlic and red pepper flakes in oil over moderate heat, stirring, 1 minute. Add broccoflower and sauté over moderately high heat, stirring frequently, until it begins to brown, about 2 minutes.
  • Add water and cook, covered, 5 minutes, or until broccoflower is just tender. Add vinegar, butter, and salt and pepper to taste and gently toss until butter is melted.
  • Transfer mixture to a serving bowl and sprinkle with basil and Parmesan.

Tips:

  • Choose the best broccoli, cauliflower, and cheese: Use fresh, firm broccoli and cauliflower florets. Choose a sharp cheddar cheese that melts well, such as cheddar, Gruyère, or Parmesan.
  • Cut the vegetables evenly: This will help them cook evenly. If the florets are too large, they may not cook through.
  • Don't overcook the vegetables: They should be tender but still slightly crisp.
  • Use a good quality béchamel sauce: This is the key to a creamy and flavorful casserole. Make sure to cook the sauce until it is thick and bubbly.
  • Add-ins: Feel free to add other vegetables, such as carrots, peas, or corn, to the casserole. You can also add cooked chicken or sausage.
  • Season to taste: Be sure to taste the casserole before serving and adjust the seasonings as needed.

Conclusion:

Broccoliflower Archer is a delicious and versatile dish that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own preferences. Whether you serve it as a main course or a side dish, this casserole is sure to be a hit.
