BEST BEACH BUSHWACKER

Best Beach Bushwacker image

There are several versions of this tasty frozen drink, but here's my favorite - how I made them at the ol' Dirty Joe's on Pensacola Beach! They are great to take on a leisurely beach bike ride - beat the heat! Don't worry about the calories, if you drink enough and start dancing to the reggae music, you can work all that off, yea, right!

Time 3m

Yield 2 drinks, 2-4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 ounce dark rum (bacardi dark with 151 for the float)
1 ounce kamora coffee liqueur (Kamora tastes better than Kahlua and is cheaper)
1 ounce white Creme de Cacao
1 ounce dark Creme de Cacao
1 ounce Coco Lopez
milk
ice

Steps:

  • Fill the blender with ice, if you have pourers on your bottles, just grab the rum and the kamora and pour equal amounts into the blender.
  • Then grab the light and dark Creme de Cocoa bottles and do the same.
  • All this 1 oz stuff like shot glasses is for trainees, tee hee!
  • We put our coco lopez in a squeeze bottle so that it didn't clump - and you just do a squeeze depending on how coconutty you want it.
  • Then fill it up with milk until you can see it about a couple inches down in the ice.
  • Crank up that bar blender and wait until it forms like a wind tunnel and has the consistency of a milkshake.
  • Pour it into 16 oz styro cups with fat straws. For the big boys and girls, you can top it off with a 151 Rum floater.
  • Enjoy getting bushwacked! Don't worry about falling, most folks tend to bounce!

BUSHWACKER

Bushwacker image

Every island in the Caribbean has its own "special" drink, and here in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, it is the "Bushwacker." Every bartender on island knows how to make them, and there are some variations, but this is the standard recipe. Tastes just like a chocolate milkshake...but be careful! It ain't no milkshake! Ever heard of a "virgin" drink? A "virgin" Bushwacker is a glass of ICE!! Haha! Multiply ingredients by the number of drinks you want. This recipe will make one drink.

Time 4m

Yield 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 12

1/2 ounce rum (Cruzan is the best, but use whatever brand you have)
1/2 ounce vodka (any brand)
1/2 ounce Baileys Irish Cream (or a similar off-brand name)
1/2 ounce Kahlua (or a coffee flavored off-brand name)
1/2 ounce amaretto liqueur (any brand)
1/2 ounce chococo chocolate-flavored liqueur
1/2 ounce Frangelico (I recommend it) (optional)
1/2 ounce creme de coconut (a MUST - "Coco Lopez" is best)
1 cup crushed ice (more or less to make the proper consistency)
3 dashes of grated nutmeg
1 tablespoon whipped cream
1 maraschino cherry

Steps:

  • Put everything, except nutmeg, whipped cream and cherries in a blender and use enough ice that when blended will be the consistency of a milkshake.
  • Blend, pour into glasses, and top with whipped cream, a cherry, and a couple dashes of grated nutmeg.
  • Enjoy!
  • But use caution!
  • They taste like there is no alcohol in them and most people have a tendency to get"bushwacked!"
  • Haha!

Tips:

  • Use a good quality rum. A dark rum will give the Bushwacker a richer flavor, while a light rum will make it more refreshing.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment with different flavors. You can add a variety of liqueurs, such as Kahlua, creme de cacao, or triple sec, to create a unique Bushwacker.
  • If you don't have a blender, you can make a Bushwacker by hand. Simply shake all of the ingredients together in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  • Garnish your Bushwacker with a cherry, a pineapple wedge, or a sprinkle of nutmeg.
  • Serve the Bushwacker immediately.

Conclusion:

The Bushwacker is a delicious and refreshing cocktail that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be customized to your own taste. So next time you are looking for a tropical drink to enjoy, give the Bushwacker a try. You won't be disappointed.
