Tips:
- Choose the Right Tilapia: Opt for fresh or frozen tilapia fillets that are firm and have a mild, sweet flavor. Avoid fillets that are discolored or have an off odor.
- Prepare the Ritz Cracker Crumbs: Use a food processor or rolling pin to finely crush the Ritz crackers into crumbs. This will help create a crispy and flavorful crust on the tilapia.
- Season the Tilapia: Before coating the tilapia in the Ritz cracker crumbs, season it with salt, pepper, and any other desired spices or herbs. This will enhance the flavor of the fish.
- Use Melted Butter: Brushing melted butter over the Ritz cracker crumbs before baking will help them adhere to the tilapia and create a golden brown crust.
- Bake at the Right Temperature: Bake the tilapia at a high temperature (400°F or 200°C) for a short period of time to ensure that the fish cooks through without becoming dry.
- Garnish and Serve: Once the tilapia is cooked, garnish it with fresh herbs like parsley or dill. Serve immediately with lemon wedges and your favorite sides, such as roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or rice.
Conclusion:
Baked tilapia with Ritz crackers is a simple yet flavorful dish that is perfect for a quick and easy weeknight meal. The crispy Ritz cracker crust adds a delicious crunch to the tender tilapia, while the melted butter and herbs enhance the flavor of the fish. This recipe is also versatile and can be customized with different seasonings and sides to suit your taste preferences.
