1 medium head cauliflower (1 1/2 pounds, about 6 cups raw)
1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil (or use olive oil spray)
2 cloves garlic, pressed or smashed and minced
1/2 teaspoon Italian herb blend
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt (or to taste)
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper (or to taste)
Optional: 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan
Optional Garnish: 2 teaspoons chopped parsley

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients. Preheat the air fryer to 400 F.
  • Cut the cauliflower into equal-sized florets. Wash under cold running water and let it dry thoroughly. Transfer to a large bowl.
  • Add the olive oil, garlic, herbs, salt, and pepper to the cauliflower. Toss to coat evenly.
  • Place the seasoned cauliflower in the air fryer basket.
  • Set the fryer to cook for 10 minutes. Shake the basket every 2 to 3 minutes so the florets cook evenly. Check for tenderness with a fork-larger pieces may take a little longer. If desired, add 2 tablespoons of Parmesan cheese to the cauliflower and continue cooking for 1 or 2 additional minutes. Taste and adjust the seasonings with more salt and pepper, if necessary.
  • Transfer the cooked cauliflower to a serving bowl, then garnish with parsley and extra Parmesan cheese, if desired.

How to make perfect crispy air fryer cauliflower. Caramelized and tender, the air fryer is the best for healthy cauliflower that tastes amazing!

Provided by Erin Clarke / Well Plated

Categories     Dinner     Side Dish

Time 25m

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 head cauliflower (about 2 pounds, cut into bite-size florets (about 8 cups))
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon kosher salt (plus additional to taste)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (the spice is subtle; add more for additional kick; or, swap ground black pepper)
Squeeze fresh lemon juice (optional)

Steps:

  • Place the cauliflower in a large mixing bowl.
  • In a small bowl or liquid measuring cup, whisk together the olive oil, salt, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes.
  • Pour over the cauliflower, then toss to coat. Take time to make sure each floret has some oil coating it.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 390 degrees F. Place the cauliflower in the basket in a single layer (some overlap is OK, but don't overcrowd or the cauliflower will not get as crisp; you'll likely need to work in batches and can keep cooked cauliflower warm in a 300 degree F oven if you like).
  • Air fryer the cauliflower for 12 to 15 minutes, shaking the basket at times throughout, until it is crispy outside and tender when pierced with a fork. Enjoy hot, with a squeeze of lemon juice and light sprinkle of additional salt to taste.

Tips for Air Frying Cauliflower:

  • Choose the right cauliflower: Select a head of cauliflower that is firm and compact, with no signs of bruising or wilting.
  • Cut the cauliflower into even-sized florets: This will help them cook evenly.
  • Toss the cauliflower florets with olive oil and seasonings: This will help them brown and crisp up in the air fryer.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit: This will help the cauliflower cook quickly and evenly.
  • Cook the cauliflower florets in the air fryer for 10-12 minutes, or until they are tender and slightly browned: Shake the basket halfway through cooking to ensure even cooking.
  • Serve the air-fried cauliflower immediately: It is best enjoyed hot and crispy.
