WINTER SANGRIA

Categories     beverage

Time 1h10m

Yield 8 servings (about 3 liters)

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 cups no-pulp orange juice
3 to 6 ounces orange liqueur
2 tablespoons honey
1 cinnamon stick
2 blood oranges or clementines, supremed
1 Granny Smith apple (or other tart apple), cored and chopped into 1/4-inch cubes
1 Anjou (red) pear, peeled, cored and chopped into 1/4-inch cubes
2 liters sweet sparkling red wine, chilled (recommended: Rosa Regale)
1 liter lemon lime soda, chilled

Steps:

  • In a large pitcher or punch bowl, whisk together orange juice, orange liqueur and honey. Add cinnamon stick, blood oranges, apple and pears, stir to combine. Set aside at room temperature to macerate, at least 1 hour, until ready to serve. Add wine and soda, stir gently to combine, and serve immediately over ice.

Tips:

  • Choose the right wine. A fruity red wine, such as a Beaujolais or a Pinot Noir, is a good choice for winter sangria. You can also use a white wine, such as a Sauvignon Blanc or a Chardonnay, if you prefer.
  • Use fresh fruit. The fresher the fruit, the better your sangria will taste. Use a variety of fruits, such as oranges, apples, cranberries, and pomegranates.
  • Add some spices. Spices like cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg can add a warm and festive flavor to your sangria. You can also add a splash of brandy or rum for an extra kick.
  • Let it sit overnight. The longer your sangria sits, the more time the flavors will have to meld together. If you can, let it sit overnight in the refrigerator before serving.
  • Serve it chilled. Sangria is best served chilled. You can chill it in the refrigerator or in a cooler with ice.

Conclusion:

Winter sangria is a delicious and festive drink that is perfect for any holiday party. It is easy to make and can be customized to your liking. With a few simple tips, you can make a winter sangria that will impress your guests. So next time you are looking for a festive and delicious drink, give winter sangria a try.
