Yield 2 people

Number Of Ingredients 7

0.7 l cold water
1 kg vegies (mix some carrots, cabbage, beans, peas, etc.)
300 g white fish filet
3 tea spoons olive oil
salt
pepper
parsley

Steps:

  • Put veggies, 1 tea spoon olive oil and a bit salt and a bit pepper into cold water. boil up. Cook on small flame (low heat) until 5 minutes before done (should stay very al dente). Add fish and cook for 5 more minutes. Take away from flame. Add more salt and pepper to match your taste. Add 2 tea spoons of olive oil and parsley.

Tips:

  • Use fresh, high-quality fish: The fresher the fish, the better the soup will taste. Look for fish fillets or steaks that are firm and have a mild, briny smell.
  • Choose the right type of fish: Not all fish are suitable for soup. Some, like salmon and tuna, are too oily and will make the soup greasy. Others, like tilapia, are too bland and will not add much flavor. Good choices for white fish soup include cod, haddock, halibut, and flounder.
  • Don't overcook the fish: Fish cooks quickly, so it's important to not overcook it. Overcooked fish will become tough and dry. Cook the fish until it is just opaque in the center.
  • Use a variety of vegetables: Vegetables add flavor, color, and nutrients to white fish soup. Good choices include carrots, celery, onions, leeks, potatoes, and tomatoes.
  • Use a flavorful broth: The broth is the base of the soup, so it's important to use a flavorful one. You can use a store-bought fish broth or make your own by simmering fish bones and vegetables in water.
  • Season the soup to taste: Season the soup with salt, pepper, and other herbs and spices to taste. Common seasonings for white fish soup include thyme, rosemary, bay leaves, and dill.

Conclusion:

White fish soup is a delicious and nutritious meal that is perfect for a cold winter day. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. By following the tips above, you can make a white fish soup that is sure to impress your family and friends.
