  • Use a heavy saucepan. This will help to distribute the heat evenly and prevent the fudge from scorching.
  • Be patient. It takes time for the fudge to reach the right consistency. Don't rush the process or you'll end up with a grainy fudge.
  • If you're using a candy thermometer, remove the fudge from the heat when it reaches 234 degrees Fahrenheit (112 degrees Celsius).
  • If you don't have a candy thermometer, you can use the cold water test. Drop a small amount of fudge into a bowl of cold water. If it forms a soft ball, the fudge is ready.
  • Stir in your favorite mix-ins when the fudge is almost done cooking. This could include nuts, chocolate chips, marshmallows, or dried fruit.
  • Pour the fudge into a greased 8x8 inch pan. Let it cool for at least 2 hours before cutting into squares.
