Tips:

  • Mise en place: Before you start cooking, make sure you have all of your ingredients and equipment ready. This will help you stay organized and avoid any scrambling. For meatballs, this means having all of your ingredients measured out, your spices gathered, and your baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Use fresh ginger and garlic: Fresh ginger and garlic add a lot of flavor to these meatballs. If you don't have fresh ginger or garlic, you can use ground ginger and garlic powder, but the flavor will be less intense.
  • Don't overmix the meatball mixture: Overmixing the meatball mixture can make the meatballs tough. Mix the ingredients just until they are combined.
  • Roll the meatballs into uniform sizes: This will help them cook evenly. Aim for meatballs that are about 1-inch in diameter.
  • Don't overcrowd the baking sheet: Give the meatballs plenty of space on the baking sheet so that they can cook evenly. If you overcrowd the baking sheet, the meatballs will steam instead of bake.
  • Bake the meatballs until they are cooked through: The meatballs should be cooked through when they reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Make the sauce while the meatballs are baking: This will save you time and ensure that the sauce is hot and ready when the meatballs are done.
  • Serve the meatballs with your favorite sides: These meatballs can be served with a variety of sides, such as rice, noodles, or vegetables.

Conclusion:

These Waikiki-style meatballs are a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a party or potluck. The meatballs are made with a flavorful combination of ground beef, pork, and veal, and they are seasoned with ginger, garlic, and green onion. The meatballs are then baked until they are cooked through and then smothered in a sweet and tangy sauce. These meatballs are sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them!
