Time 25m

Yield 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 16

1 medium onion
2 pickled pepperoncini peppers
1/2 head iceberg lettuce
1 large tomato, halved and seeded
1/4 pound deli-sliced genoa salami
1/4 pound deli-sliced ham
1/4 pound deli-sliced prosciutto
1/4 pound deli-sliced roast turkey
1/4 pound deli-sliced provolone cheese
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 1/2 teaspoons dried basil
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 10-to-12-inch round loaf Italian bread
8 hoagie rolls, cut into pieces, for dipping

Steps:

  • Chop the onion, pepperoncini, lettuce and tomato into bite-size pieces. Dice the meats and cheese.
  • Combine the chopped vegetables, meats and cheese in a large bowl. Add the mayonnaise, olive oil, oregano, basil and red pepper flakes and stir until everything is all mixed up and tasty. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
  • Carve out the center of the bread loaf to make a bowl (don't cut through the bottom) and cut the scraps into bite-size pieces. Serve the hoagie dip in the bread bowl, with the extra bread and hoagie rolls to scoop it up. Yummers!

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: The better the ingredients, the better the dip will taste. Look for fresh vegetables, flavorful cheeses, and a good quality hoagie roll.
  • Don't skimp on the cheese: Cheese is the key ingredient in this dip, so don't be afraid to use plenty of it. A good mix of mozzarella, provolone, and Parmesan will give you a flavorful and gooey dip.
  • Add some spice: If you like a little heat, add some diced jalapeños or cayenne pepper to the dip. You can also use a spicy hoagie roll to give the dip an extra kick.
  • Make it ahead of time: This dip can be made up to 2 days ahead of time. Just cover it and refrigerate it until you're ready to serve.
  • Serve with your favorite dippers: This dip is perfect for serving with hoagie rolls, chips, vegetables, or crackers.

Conclusion:

This ultimate hoagie dip is a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer that is perfect for any party or gathering. It's cheesy, flavorful, and can be made ahead of time. So next time you're looking for a crowd-pleasing dip, give this recipe a try.
