Time 1h

Yield 25 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 lb sweet dark chocolate square (Dove)
12 ounces sweetened condensed milk
pecan halves

Steps:

  • Place UNOPENED can of evaporated milk in 2 quart saucepan. Cover with water, boil for 1 hour, keeping can covered with water. Remove and cool.
  • In a double boiler, over medium-low heat, melt Dove chocolate until creamy.
  • On parchment paper, drop small amount of Dove chocolate and spread out to quarter size. Place 4 pecan halves on top of chocolate.
  • Open can of evaporated milk, and scoop a tablespoon of creamy caramel on top of each set of pecan halves.
  • Cover caramel with melted chocolate.
  • Cool completely. (I place tray in freezer for 5 - 10 minutes for a quick set).
  • Remove from parchment paper and serve, or store in container with parchment paper in between layers of turtles.

Tips:

  • Mise en place: Before you start cooking, make sure you have all your ingredients and equipment ready. This will help you stay organized and avoid scrambling later on.
  • Use fresh, high-quality ingredients: The better the quality of your ingredients, the better your dish will taste. Look for fresh, seasonal produce and choose high-quality meats and cheeses.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: When cooking meat or vegetables, make sure not to overcrowd the pan. This will prevent them from cooking evenly and will make them more likely to stick.
  • Use a meat thermometer: A meat thermometer is the best way to ensure that your meat is cooked to the proper temperature. This is especially important for poultry, which can be dangerous to eat if it is undercooked.
  • Season your food: Don't forget to season your food! Salt, pepper, and other spices can help to bring out the flavor of your ingredients.
  • Don't overcook your food: Overcooked food is dry, tough, and flavorless. Cook your food until it is just done, but no longer.

Conclusion:

Turtle doves are a delicious and versatile game bird that can be prepared in a variety of ways. Whether you are looking for a simple weeknight meal or a special occasion dish, there is a turtle dove recipe out there for you. With a little planning and preparation, you can create a delicious and memorable meal that your family and friends will love.
