Categories     Side Casseroles

Time 45m

Number Of Ingredients 11

1- 8 oz egg noodles, cooked and drained
1 can(s) tuna packed in water - drained well
1 -16 oz frozen broccoli florets - thawed and drained
4 Tbsp butter
6 Tbsp flour
1 can(s) cream of mushroom soup
2 c shredded cheddar cheese
1 Tbsp dried minced onion flakes
salt and pepper to taste
2 c milk
1 can(s) french's fried onions

Steps:

  • 1. Cook and drain noodles in a large pan. Leave noodles in the pan. In a medium sauce pan, melt the butter. Add the flour and stir. Add salt and pepper. Add the dried onion flakes. Stir in 2 cups milk until thickened. Stir in the cheese and mushroom soup. Fold in the tuna. Add the broccoli to the noodles then stir in the sauce. Pour into a greased casserole dish. Top with French's Fried Onions. Bake at 350 degrees about 30 minutes or until hot and bubbly.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality tuna. Opt for tuna that is packed in water or olive oil and avoid tuna packed in oil, as it contains more calories and fat.
  • Cook the broccoli until it is tender-crisp. This will ensure that the broccoli retains its vibrant color and nutrients.
  • Use a variety of cheeses. A combination of cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses provides a rich and flavorful sauce.
  • Don't overcook the casserole. The casserole is done when the cheese is melted and bubbly and the noodles are cooked through.
  • Serve the casserole with a side salad or steamed vegetables. This will add extra nutrition and freshness to the meal.

Conclusion:

Tuna and broccoli noodle casserole is a quick, easy, and affordable meal that is perfect for busy weeknights. It is also a great way to use up leftover tuna and broccoli. The casserole is packed with protein, vegetables, and cheese, making it a nutritious and satisfying meal.
