1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Time 35m

Yield 36 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 (8 ounce) can refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
1/2 cup toasted chopped pecans
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1 tablespoon butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup chocolate chips or 1/4 cup mini chocolate chip, plus extra for topping
1/4 cup chocolate toffee pieces, plus extra for topping

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Unroll the dough into two long rectangles. Place in an ungreased 9 x 13 inch pan and press over bottom and 1/2 inch up the sides to form a crust. Firmly press perforations to seal. Bake for 5 minutes. Set aside.
  • In a bowl, combine the pecans, sugar, corn syrup, butter, vanilla, egg, chocolate chips, and chocolate toffee bits.
  • Pour over the partially baked crust.
  • With a spatula, spread filling to cover the dough.
  • Bake an additional 18 to 22 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Remove the pan from the oven and sprinkle with extra chocolate chips and chocolate toffee.
  • Cool completely. Cut into bars.

Tips:

  • For the perfect toffee filling, use a heavy-bottomed saucepan and stir constantly to prevent burning. A candy thermometer is helpful to ensure the mixture reaches the correct temperature.
  • To achieve a flaky crust, use cold butter and work it into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs. Avoid overworking the dough, as this can result in a tough crust.
  • To prevent the filling from bubbling over, leave about 1/2 inch of space at the top of the pie crust.
  • For a gooey center, underbake the bars slightly. The center will continue to set as the bars cool.
  • Allow the bars to cool completely before cutting and serving. This will help to prevent the filling from oozing out.

Conclusion:

With its buttery crust, gooey toffee filling, and sprinkle of chocolate chips, this toffee pie bar recipe is a delectable treat that is sure to satisfy any sweet tooth. Whether you are baking it for a special occasion or simply as a weekend indulgence, these bars are guaranteed to be a hit. So gather your ingredients, preheat your oven, and get ready to experience the ultimate toffee indulgence.
