Time 35m

Yield 36 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 (8 ounce) can refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
1/2 cup toasted chopped pecans
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1 tablespoon butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup chocolate chips or 1/4 cup mini chocolate chip, plus extra for topping
1/4 cup chocolate toffee pieces, plus extra for topping

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Unroll the dough into two long rectangles. Place in an ungreased 9 x 13 inch pan and press over bottom and 1/2 inch up the sides to form a crust. Firmly press perforations to seal. Bake for 5 minutes. Set aside.
  • In a bowl, combine the pecans, sugar, corn syrup, butter, vanilla, egg, chocolate chips, and chocolate toffee bits.
  • Pour over the partially baked crust.
  • With a spatula, spread filling to cover the dough.
  • Bake an additional 18 to 22 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Remove the pan from the oven and sprinkle with extra chocolate chips and chocolate toffee.
  • Cool completely. Cut into bars.

Tips:

  • To ensure your toffee pecan bars turn out perfectly, use a kitchen scale to accurately measure your ingredients. This will help you achieve the right consistency and texture.
  • For the best results, use fresh pecan halves. This will give your bars a more nutty and flavorful taste.
  • If you don't have a candy thermometer, you can test the toffee by dropping a small amount into a bowl of cold water. If the toffee forms a hard ball, it is ready. If it's too soft, continue cooking it for a few more minutes.
  • Be careful not to overcook the toffee, as this will make it hard and brittle. Once it reaches the right consistency, immediately pour it over the pecans.
  • Allow the toffee pecan bars to cool completely before cutting them into squares. This will help prevent them from falling apart.
  • For a richer flavor, you can add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the toffee mixture.
  • If you want a chewier bar, you can add a tablespoon of corn syrup to the toffee mixture.
  • For a crunchier bar, you can add a cup of chopped walnuts or almonds to the toffee mixture.
  • Store the toffee pecan bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.

Conclusion:

Toffee pecan bars are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that are perfect for any occasion. With a rich toffee filling, crunchy pecan topping, and buttery shortbread crust, these bars are sure to be a hit. Whether you're serving them at a party or enjoying them as a sweet snack, toffee pecan bars are a classic dessert that everyone will love.
