Margarita, the iconic cocktail that epitomizes the spirit of Mexican festivity, is a harmonious blend of zesty lime, premium tequila, and the delicate caress of orange liqueur. Its origins, shrouded in mystery and folklore, are fiercely debated among cocktail enthusiasts. Some tales trace its lineage to the renowned Carlos "Danny" Herrera, a bartender at Hussong's Cantina in Ensenada, Mexico, who concocted this refreshing elixir in 1941. THE PERFECT MARGARITA

The Perfect Margarita image

Mastering the margarita requires a certain amount of practice, but once you dial-in your perfect ratio, it's a really easy cocktail to replicate. The classic recipe is 3 parts tequila, 2 parts triple sec, and 1 part freshly squeezed lime juice, and you should probably start off pretty close to that, but my personal favorite proportions are 4-3-2.

THE BEST EASY MARGARITA

The Best Easy Margarita image

I've had friends say that they can't tell the difference between this and a real margarita! I made up this recipe myself one day when I was preparing for camping at a music festival. I needed lots of booze, preferably refreshing. And this is the awesome result. I think you could make this into a frozen margarita by putting it in the freezer then blending it, but I like them much more on ice. **Note** This is VERY STRONG. If you want to make it less strong, add another 1/2 qt limeade. Any more diminishes the flavor. I recommend using Newman's Own Limeade. Also, I don't recommend using crappy tequila, use only what you would drink straight.

Tips:

  • Use fresh ingredients whenever possible. This will give your margarita the best flavor.
  • Choose a good quality tequila. Look for a tequila that is 100% agave and has a smooth taste.
  • Use freshly squeezed lime juice. This will give your margarita a bright, citrusy flavor.
  • Don't skimp on the salt. The salt helps to balance out the sweetness of the margarita and adds a nice savory note.
  • Chill your margarita glass before serving. This will help to keep your margarita cold and refreshing.
  • Garnish your margarita with a lime wedge or a sprig of mint. This will add a pop of color and flavor.
