TERIYAKI TURKEY BREAST

I really enjoy turkey and not just at the holidays. This is one of my favorite recipes, so easy and so very good.

Provided by Deanna Rodgers

Categories     Turkey

Time 2h30m

Number Of Ingredients 8

8 lb turkey breast, bone in
1 c brown sugar, firmly packed
3/4 c soy sauce
1/2 c cooking sherry or apple juice
1/4 c vegetable oil
1 Tbsp ginger powder
1 Tbsp dry mustard
1 tsp garlic powder

Steps:

  • 1. Combine brown sugar, soy sauce, sherry or apple juice, vegetable oil, ginger, dry mustard and garlic powder, mix well.
  • 2. Pour 1 cup of the marinade in to a large resealable plastic bag(one large enough for the turkey breast to fit in); put turkey in bag. Seal bag and turn a couple times to coat turkey. Place bag on a tray and refrigerate overnight. Pour the remaining marinade in a container and cover and refrigerate for use in basting turkey.
  • 3. In the morning remove turkey from bag and place on a rack in a shallow roasting pan. Bake uncovered in a preheated 350 degree oven. Bake for 2 to 2-1/2 hours. Baste every 30 minutes with the reserved marinade. After removing from oven let stand 10 minutes before slicing.

Tips:

  • Use a good quality teriyaki sauce: A good teriyaki sauce will make all the difference in the final dish. Look for a sauce that is thick and flavorful, with a balance of sweet, salty, and savory flavors.
  • Marinate the turkey breast overnight: This will allow the flavors of the teriyaki sauce to penetrate the meat and result in a more flavorful dish. If you don't have time to marinate the turkey breast overnight, you can marinate it for at least 30 minutes.
  • Cook the turkey breast over medium heat: This will help to prevent the turkey breast from drying out. If you cook the turkey breast over high heat, it will cook too quickly and become tough.
  • Baste the turkey breast with the teriyaki sauce while it cooks: This will help to keep the turkey breast moist and flavorful. Baste the turkey breast every 15-20 minutes.
  • Let the turkey breast rest before slicing: This will allow the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, resulting in a more tender and flavorful dish. Let the turkey breast rest for at least 10 minutes before slicing.

Conclusion:

Teriyaki turkey breast is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. The teriyaki sauce adds a flavorful glaze to the turkey breast, and the turkey breast is cooked until tender and juicy. This dish can be served with a variety of sides, such as rice, noodles, or vegetables.
