Yield Makes 6 cups

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 cup sugar
6 sprigs tarragon, plus more for garnish
2 cups fresh-squeezed lemon juice, about 10-12 lemons
Ice
12 ounces gin, optional

Steps:

  • Combine the sugar with 1 cup water and 6 sprigs tarragon in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.
  • In a large pitcher, combine lemon juice, tarragon-sugar syrup, and 3 cups of cold water. Fill pitcher with ice until ready to serve.
  • To serve, fill glasses with ice. Pour a shot of gin over the ice, if using. Fill with lemonade and garnish with a tarragon sprig.

Tips:

  • Choose fresh tarragon: Fresh tarragon has a more vibrant flavor than dried tarragon. If you can't find fresh tarragon, you can substitute 1 tablespoon of dried tarragon for every 1/4 cup of fresh tarragon.
  • Use unwaxed lemons: Unwaxed lemons have a more intense flavor than waxed lemons. If you can only find waxed lemons, be sure to wash them thoroughly before using them.
  • Chill the lemonade before serving: Chilled lemonade is more refreshing than warm lemonade. You can chill the lemonade in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving, or you can add ice cubes to the lemonade when you serve it.
  • Garnish the lemonade with fresh tarragon: Fresh tarragon adds a beautiful pop of color and flavor to lemonade. You can garnish the lemonade with a sprig of fresh tarragon or with chopped fresh tarragon.

Conclusion:

Tarragon lemonade is a refreshing and flavorful summer drink. It's easy to make and can be customized to your taste. Whether you like your lemonade sweet or tart, you're sure to enjoy this refreshing twist on a classic drink.
