Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 package cranberries, fresh
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
1 tangerine or lemon
1 cup sugar or coconut palm sugar
1 cup water

Steps:

  • 1. Use double boiler and add 1 cup sugar or coconut palm sugar, 1 cup water, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 teaspoon vanilla.
  • 2. Grate peel of one tangerine or lemon and juice into mixture.
  • 3. Stir occasionally cranberry mixture over double boiler adding more water to keep double boiler from running out of boiling water. Stir mixture until all the cranberries have popped open & started to thicken.

Tips:

  • Use fresh cranberries: Fresh cranberries are tarter and have a more intense flavor than frozen cranberries. If you are using frozen cranberries, thaw them in the refrigerator overnight before using.

  • Don't overcook the cranberries: Overcooked cranberries will be mushy and lose their tartness. Cook the cranberries just until they pop and their skins start to split.

  • Add sugar to taste: The amount of sugar you add to the cranberry sauce will depend on your personal preference. Start with 1/2 cup of sugar and add more to taste.

  • Add other ingredients to taste: You can add other ingredients to the cranberry sauce to give it a different flavor. Some popular additions include orange zest, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger.

  • Make the cranberry sauce ahead of time: Cranberry sauce can be made up to 3 days ahead of time. Store the cranberry sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Conclusion:

Tangy cranberry sauce is a delicious and versatile condiment that can be served with a variety of dishes. It is perfect for Thanksgiving dinner, but it can also be enjoyed year-round. With its tart and sweet flavor, tangy cranberry sauce is sure to please everyone at your table.
