QUICK AND EASY PIZZA CRUST

Quick and Easy Pizza Crust image

This is a great recipe when you don't want to wait for the dough to rise. You just mix it and allow it to rest for 5 minutes and then it's ready to go!! It yields a soft, chewy crust. For a real treat, I recommend you use bread flour and bake it on a pizza stone, but all-purpose flour works well too. Enjoy!

Time 1h15m

Yield 1 pizza

Number Of Ingredients 5

3/4 cup water
1 teaspoon sugar
2 tablespoons butter, melted
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tablespoon yeast

Steps:

  • **Water should be 110-115 degrees for best results.
  • mix water, butter, and sugar in mixing bowl. Add part of the flour and stir. Add the rest of the flour and the yeast, and stir into a dough. Knead for 6-8 minutes, or until dough is smooth and elastic. Set dough in bowl and grease the top. Cover with a towel and set in a warm place to rise for about 45 minutes.
  • After dough has risen the first time, punch down and knead until air bubbles are removed.
  • Liberally butter a 16-inch round pizza pan, and press dough onto pan. Carefully lift one-half of the crust and fold over (to expose half of the pizza pan). Sprinkle 1/2 Tablespoon cornmeal over pan. Lay crust back in place and repeat on other half, so that there is cornmeal sprinkled between entire layer of crust and pan.
  • Sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon salt over top of crust and then spread with 1 cup pizza sauce. Sprinkle on cheese and any optional toppings desired. Sprinkle on oregano, basil, and parmesan cheese last.
  • Place pizza in oven and turn heat to 400 degrees. Bake for 10 minutes; rotate crust and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes or until top is browned. (Be sure to watch so it doesn't burn; every oven is different!).
  • When pizza is browned, turn off heat and open oven door. Leave pizza in oven until ready to serve. Then remove from oven, cut, and serve. If there is leftover pizza, we often put the pieces directly on a cooling rack to cool, which prevents condensation forming between the crust and pan.

TOMMY'S PERFECT PIZZA

Categories     Pasta     Quick & Easy

Yield 1 pizza

Number Of Ingredients 17

Dough:
2/3rd cup hot water
1 tsp active dry yeast
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
2 cups all purpose flour
Sauce:
1 can tomato sauce
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1/2 tbsp basil
1/2 tbsp oregano
1 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
1/2 tbsp minced garlic

Steps:

  • In large bowl, combine hot water, yeast, and sugar. Stir with a fork and let sit 4 minutes until foamy. Add salt, vanilla, olive oil, and flour. Stir as well as you can with a wooden spoon, then transfer to a large, flour dusted working surface. Knead the dough by hand, adding a dusting of flour if too sticky. (A good trick is to fold in half left to right, then right to left, then top to bottom, then repeat) Roll out the dough with a roller to fit your pizza pan. Personally, I roll it out a little larger, then using the pizza pan as a guide, I cut the excess off and then roll it to form a higher edge. For the sauce, combine all ingredients, mix with a fork, and pour on the dough! Add 1 lb shredded mozzarella cheese and toppings of choice and cook at 475 for 13 to 20 minutes.

Tips:

  • For a crispy crust, preheat your oven to the highest temperature possible before baking the pizza.
  • Use a pizza stone or baking sheet for best results.
  • Don't overcrowd the pizza with toppings, as this will make it soggy.
  • Be generous with the sauce and cheese, as this will help to keep the pizza moist and flavorful.
  • Bake the pizza until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Conclusion:

Tammy's Easy Pizza Crust is a versatile and delicious recipe that can be used to make a variety of pizzas. With its simple ingredients and easy-to-follow instructions, this recipe is perfect for beginner and experienced pizza makers alike.
