ONION SWISS CHEESE RICE CASSEROLE

Onion Swiss Cheese Rice Casserole image

I found this recipe somewhere on the Internet a few years ago and sent it to my mom. She made it and it was very good, so it has become a staple for family dinners. It's a great accompaniment to plain roasted, baked, or grilled meats or fish, and it's just as good reheated as leftovers as it is when first made.

Tips:

  • Use fresh onions: Fresh onions have a more pungent flavor and will add more depth to the casserole.
  • Slice the onions thinly: This will help them cook evenly and prevent them from becoming too soft.
  • Sauté the onions until they are golden brown: This will caramelize the onions and give them a sweet and savory flavor.
  • Use a good quality Swiss cheese: A good quality Swiss cheese will melt smoothly and evenly and will add a rich, nutty flavor to the casserole.
  • Don't overcook the casserole: The casserole is done when the cheese is melted and bubbly and the onions are tender but still have a little bit of bite to them.

Conclusion:

Swiss Onion Casserole is a classic dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal or a special occasion. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. With its creamy, cheesy sauce and flavorful onions, this casserole is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
