Time 15m

Yield 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 5

6 cups water
1 cup sugar
6 tea bags
1 bunch mint
6 shots Kentucky bourbon

Steps:

  • Bring 6 cups water to a boil. Once at a boil, remove the pan from the heat and add 1 cup sugar and 6 tea bags and allow to steep.
  • Per serving, fill each glass with store-bought crushed ice to the top and stuff with mint sprigs. Pour a shot of bourbon, fill glass with tea and serve.

Tips:

  • Use freshly brewed black tea for the best flavor. Cold brew tea overnight or steep it for 5-10 minutes in hot water, then let it cool completely.
  • Add a variety of fruits, herbs, and spices to your julep for a unique flavor. Some popular additions include mint, lemon, orange, ginger, and cinnamon.
  • Use a good quality bourbon whiskey for the best results. A high-proof bourbon will provide a stronger flavor, while a lower-proof bourbon will be more mellow.
  • Add the ingredients to the julep cup in order: tea, simple syrup, mint, bourbon, and ice. This will help to ensure that the flavors are well-blended.
  • Garnish the julep with a mint sprig and a lemon or orange slice for a refreshing and flavorful presentation.

Conclusion:

The sweet tea julep is a refreshing and flavorful cocktail that is perfect for any occasion. With its combination of black tea, bourbon whiskey, simple syrup, mint, and ice, this drink is sure to please everyone. So next time you're looking for a delicious and easy-to-make cocktail, give the sweet tea julep a try. You won't be disappointed!
