PARTY FRANKS

This is a very old sweet and sour cocktail recipe; I remember looking forward to it as a kid at my Mom's holiday parties. It will look horrible and smell worse when first in the pan, but just wait. Don't ever tell what's in the sauce until after your guests have tasted it (otherwise they'll never try it). Serve with toothpicks; keep warm with a fondue pot.

Tips:

  • Choose the right sausages: Use high-quality sausages or hot dogs for the best flavor. Look for sausages that are made with a blend of meats, such as pork, beef, or chicken.
  • Don't overcook the sausages: Overcooked sausages will be tough and dry. Cook them over medium heat until they are heated through, but still juicy.
  • Use a good quality ketchup: The ketchup is one of the main ingredients in the sweet and sour sauce, so make sure you use a good quality ketchup that you enjoy the taste of.
  • Add some heat: If you like your sweet and sour sauce with a little bit of heat, add some chili sauce, hot sauce, or cayenne pepper.
  • Serve with your favorite sides: Sweet and sour sausages can be served with a variety of sides, such as rice, potatoes, or vegetables.
