From Rochelle, Illinois, Debi Hetland relates, "This warm appetizer is so simple to make but so tasty," She uses cherry pie filling, chunks of pineapple and a little brown sugar to create a fruity sauce that's just perfect for mini sausage links.

SWEET AND SOUR MINI SMOKIES

Sweet and Sour Mini Smokies image

This is a tasty easy recipe that my husband's family loves, and feeding six boys and one girl from his family they all like, isn't a walk in the park. It's easy to make gluten free as long as you have the right mini smokies on your side. Around the Midwest region I know the Wimmer's Meat Co makes little smokies that are gluten free and rather yummy.

Time 30m

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 (20 ounce) can chunk pineapple, undrained
1 tablespoon gluten-free soy sauce
1/4 cup vinegar
1 lb gluten-free little smokies (Gluten Free, I Like Wimmer's)

Steps:

  • In a 1.5 to 2 quart casserole: combine the cornstarch and brown sugar.
  • Stir in remaining ingredients.
  • Microwave, covered, 13-15 mins or until mixture boils and thickens, stirring halfway.
  • It does have a tendency to boil over in the microwave so you might want to keep an eye on it unless you need to clean your microwave.

SWEET AND SOUR SMOKIES

Sweet and Sour Smokies image

This is yet another TOH recipe. I made it for a beach themed party I once had. I have since made them quite often, it is a really easy party food to have simmering in the crock pot so you can concentrate on other parts of the menu. Oh and they also taste great, I have never had any leftover I recommend using only the smoked sausage links, mini hotdogs do not give the same flavor.
