SWEDISH APPLE PIE (ORIGINALLY FROM PAMPERED CHEF)

Swedish Apple Pie (originally from Pampered Chef) image

I've made this in a pie plate, but I've also made it in an 8x8 square pan and I've even doubled the recipe and made it in a 13x9 pan. It's very versatile and everyone who tries it loves it. It's the ONLY apple pie I like.

APPLE WALNUT PIE

Apple Walnut Pie image

My family is fond of any treat featuring apples, but this pie is the one they like best. Unlike some fruit pies, this crust doesn't become soggy, thanks to the addition of ground walnuts. Everyone agrees the flavor of nuts pairs well with apples in this fall favorite. -Evonne Wurmnest, Normal, Illinois

SARAH'S SWEDISH APPLE PIE

Sarah's Swedish Apple Pie image

I am not a pie crust person so Sarah suggested this great pie with the crust on top and not a traditional pie crust flavor. It was way yummy and quick to make.

Provided by Hill Family

Categories     Pie

Time 55m

Yield 1 pie, 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

4 -5 small apples, cored, peeled, sliced
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
3/4 cup melted butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1 egg
1 cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Place the peeled and chopped apples in the bottom of a standard pie plate. Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon on top.
  • In a small bowl mix topping ingredients and pat down on top of the apples.
  • Bake at 350 for 45 min or until lightly brown.

Tips:

  • For a crispier crust, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before rolling it out.
  • If you don't have a pastry blender, you can use two knives to cut the butter into the flour.
  • Be careful not to overmix the dough, as this will make it tough.
  • When peeling the apples, be sure to remove the core and seeds.
  • If you don't have a lemon, you can use 1/2 teaspoon of vinegar in its place.
  • To make the streusel topping, simply combine the flour, sugar, and butter in a bowl and mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Bake the pie until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  • Let the pie cool for at least 1 hour before serving.

Conclusion:

This classic Swedish apple pie is the perfect dessert for any occasion. With its flaky crust, sweet and tart filling, and crunchy streusel topping, it's sure to be a hit with everyone at your table.
