Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 4

3 c self rising flour
2 1/2 Tbsp sugar
1 can(s) regular beer (do not use light beer)
1 stick real butter, melted

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a medium sized baking pan, or loaf pan.
  • 2. Combine flour and sugar. Add beer, and 3 tablespoons of the melted butter. Stir until well blended. The batter will be very thick and sticky. Pour into the greased baking pan.
  • 3. Bake for about 30 minutes; remove from oven and pour remainder of melted butter all over the top of the bread. Return to the oven, and bake for approximately 20 more minutes until beautifully brown.
  • 4. Cool only slightly (maybe 3-5 minutes)! Cut into squares, or slice (if you made in a loaf pan, slice thick slices), and serve warm! Eat this with even more butter, for a cardiovascular feast of doom... But what a way to go! So delicious!

BEER BREAD

Beer Bread image

Per Google.com, the #1 recipe for Beer Bread in the world! There are a few recipes for beer bread out there, but none as simple (and tasty!) as this one. You can even mix it in the baking pan for easy cleanup. This is sensational when served with soups or just as a snack, but don't expect it to be around very long when your family gets a taste of it! Be sure to use a sheet pan on the shelf below the pan to catch any excess butter that may drip during cooking.

Time 1h3m

Yield 6-8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

3 cups flour (sifted)
3 teaspoons baking powder (omit if using Self-Rising Flour)
1 teaspoon salt (omit if using Self-Rising Flour)
1/4 cup sugar
1 (12 ounce) can beer
1/2 cup melted butter (1/4 cup will do just fine)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Mix dry ingredients and beer.
  • Pour into a greased loaf pan.
  • Pour melted butter over mixture.
  • Bake 1 hour, remove from pan and cool for at least 15 minutes.
  • UPDATED NOTES: This recipe makes a very hearty bread with a crunchy, buttery crust. If you prefer a softer crust (like a traditional bread) mix the butter into the batter instead of pouring it over the top.
  • Sifting flour for bread recipes is a must-do. Most people just scoop the 1 cup measure in the flour canister and level it off. That compacts the flour and will turn your bread into a "hard biscuit" as some have described. That's because they aren't sifting their flour! If you do not have a sifter, use a spoon to spoon the flour into the 1 cup measure. Try it once the "correct" way and you will see an amazing difference in the end product.
  • I have had many email from you kind folks about using non-alcoholic beverages instead of beer. That is fine to do but I highly recommend adding a packet of Dry Active Yeast or 2 teaspoons of Bread (Machine) Yeast so that you get a proper rise.
  • The final result should be a thick, hearty and very tasteful bread, NOT A BRICK! ;).
  • Thank you all for the incredibly nice comments and those of you who left a bad review - learn to sift sift SIFT! You will be amazed at the results you get.

Tips:

  • For a crispier crust, bake the bread in a preheated oven and brush the top with melted butter before baking.
  • To make the bread more moist, add 1/2 cup of grated cheese or chopped nuts to the batter.
  • If you don't have buttermilk, you can make your own by adding 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar to 1 cup of milk and letting it sit for 5 minutes.
  • Beer bread is best eaten the day it is made, but it can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • To freeze beer bread, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and then in aluminum foil. Freeze for up to 2 months. To reheat, thaw the bread overnight in the refrigerator or at room temperature for several hours. Then, warm it in a preheated oven at 350°F for 15-20 minutes.

Conclusion:

Beer bread is a quick and easy bread to make, and it's perfect for any occasion. It's moist and flavorful, with a slightly crispy crust. Beer bread can be made with a variety of different beers, so you can experiment to find your favorite. It's also a great way to use up leftover beer. So next time you're looking for a delicious and easy bread to make, give beer bread a try.
