Provided by Aaron McCargo Jr.

Time 10m

Yield 4 to 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 5

1/4 gallon apple cider
1/2 cup dark rum
1/2 cup cinnamon schnapps
1 Granny Smith apple, peeled, cut into large chunks
1/2 lemon, juiced

Steps:

  • Mix together the cider, rum, and schnapps in a large pitcher. Add the apples to a small bowl and toss them with the lemon juice. Thread the diced apples onto skewers. Pour the spiked cider into glasses filled with ice, then garnish with an apple skewer and serve.

Tips:

  • Choose the Right Cider: Select a high-quality apple cider with bold flavors. Freshly pressed cider offers the best taste and aroma.
  • Spices and Flavors: Experiment with various spices and flavors to create a unique cider. Cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, and cardamom are classic choices. Consider adding citrus zest, ginger, or even cranberries for a twist.
  • Sweetness Level: Adjust the sweetness of the cider to your preference. Use natural sweeteners like honey, maple syrup, or brown sugar. Alternatively, you can add a splash of apple juice or sparkling water for a lighter, less sweet drink.
  • Alcohol Options: For a spiked version, choose a spirit that complements the cider's flavors. Bourbon, rum, and brandy are popular choices. Alternatively, you can use hard cider or apple brandy for a more traditional take.
  • Garnish and Presentation: Garnish your spiked fall cider with apple slices, cinnamon sticks, or star anise for a festive touch. Serve it in a heatproof mug or glass with a cinnamon sugar rim for an extra touch of elegance.

Conclusion:

Spiked fall cider is a delicious and versatile drink that can be enjoyed during the chilly autumn months. With a few simple ingredients and some creativity, you can create a unique and flavorful cider that will warm your soul. So gather your friends and family, whip up a batch of spiked fall cider, and savor the flavors of the season. Cheers!
