Steps:
- 1. Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- 2. Mix together the meat, Cheddar cheese, baking mix, water, and cayenne in a large bowl. Form the mix into 1-inch balls and place on a greased baking sheet. Bake in preheated oven until golden brown, about 12 to 14 minutes. Serve warm.
- 3. NOTES: For some added zing, serve with dipping sauce made of 3 parts sour cream and one part Dijon mustard. Use the large holes of a cheese grater to grate the SPAM®.
Tips:
- Use fresh ingredients: Fresh spam, eggs, and vegetables will give your spam puffs the best flavor and texture.
- Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter will make the puffs tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
- Let the batter rest: Letting the batter rest for 30 minutes will help the flour to absorb the liquid and will result in a more tender puff.
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to the correct temperature before you start cooking the puffs. This will help them to rise evenly.
- Bake the puffs until they are golden brown: The puffs should be baked until they are golden brown on the outside and cooked through on the inside. This will take about 20 minutes.
- Serve the puffs hot: Spam puffs are best served hot. You can serve them with a variety of dipping sauces, such as ketchup, mustard, or ranch dressing.
Conclusion:
Spam puffs are a quick and easy snack or appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. They are made with just a few simple ingredients and can be customized to your liking. Whether you like them plain or topped with your favorite ingredients, spam puffs are sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them.
