Steps:
- Slice potatoes into round slices, very thin.
- Chop onion and spam into small chunks and combine with potatoes. Salt and pepper these.
- Place potatoes & onions in a casserole dish.
- Mix Cheze-Whiz, soup, milk and Season All or Season Salt, in sauce pan and heat until chez-whiz is melted.
- Pour over the potatoes and spam.
- Bake for 1 hour at 375 degrees, maybe longer until potatoes are tender.
Tips:
- For a crispier casserole, use shredded cheddar cheese instead of Velveeta cheese. Cheddar cheese will brown and bubble in the oven, giving the casserole a nice crust.
- If you don't have evaporated milk, you can use regular milk. Just add an extra 1/2 cup of milk to the recipe.
- To make the casserole ahead of time, assemble it and bake it for 30 minutes. Then, let it cool completely and refrigerate it for up to 3 days. When you're ready to serve, reheat the casserole in a 350-degree oven for 30-40 minutes, or until it's heated through.
- This casserole is also great for freezing. To freeze the casserole, assemble it and bake it for 30 minutes. Then, let it cool completely and wrap it tightly in plastic wrap. Freeze the casserole for up to 2 months. When you're ready to serve, thaw the casserole overnight in the refrigerator and then reheat it in a 350-degree oven for 30-40 minutes, or until it's heated through.
- Serve the casserole with a side of your favorite vegetables, such as green beans, corn, or peas.
Conclusion:
Spam and cheese casserole is a classic comfort food that's easy to make and always a hit with a crowd. With its simple ingredients and delicious flavor, this casserole is sure to become a favorite in your family. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give spam and cheese casserole a try.
