This is definitely an unhealthy old southern recipe that we continue to make for all large family gatherings. My oldest son (age 23) makes this when he goes to friends' homes. He said he's never had any left to bring home.

Tips:
- Choose fresh, young green beans: Look for beans that are bright green, crisp, and free of blemishes.
- Trim the green beans: Remove the ends of the beans and any tough strings.
- Cook the green beans until they are tender-crisp: Overcooked green beans will be mushy and lose their flavor.
- Season the green beans with salt and pepper: Add other seasonings to taste, such as garlic, onion, or bacon.
- Add bacon or ham for a smoky flavor: Bacon or ham is a classic addition to green beans.
Conclusion:
Southern green beans with bacon is a delicious and easy side dish that is perfect for any occasion. Whether you are serving it at a family dinner or a potluck, this dish will be a hit.
