SOUTHERN FRIED SALMON PATTIES

Southern Fried Salmon Patties image

Salmon patties are quick and easy. I got this recipe from my son's babysitter many years ago. My son is now 20 and we still eat these at least a few times a month. These are very moist when done.

Tips:

  • Choose the Right Salmon: Opt for fresh, wild-caught salmon fillets for the best flavor and texture.
  • Keep the Salmon Moist: To ensure juicy patties, don't overcook the salmon. Cook until it reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
  • Use Panko Breadcrumbs: Panko breadcrumbs add a crispy texture to the patties. If you don't have panko, you can use regular breadcrumbs, but they may not be as crispy.
  • Add Veggies for Extra Flavor: Incorporate vegetables like finely chopped onions, carrots, or bell peppers for added flavor and nutrition.
  • Don't Overmix the Mixture: Overmixing can result in tough patties. Mix the ingredients just until combined.
  • Shape the Patties Gently: Handle the salmon mixture gently when forming the patties. This will help prevent them from falling apart.
  • Use a Non-Stick Skillet: A non-stick skillet is ideal for cooking the patties without them sticking. If you don't have a non-stick skillet, grease a regular skillet with cooking spray.
  • Cook Over Medium Heat: Cook the patties over medium heat to prevent burning. This will also help them cook evenly throughout.
  • Serve with Your Favorite Sides: Enjoy the salmon patties with sides like mashed potatoes, coleslaw, or roasted vegetables.

Conclusion:

Southern-fried salmon patties are a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. With simple ingredients and a few easy steps, you can create these crispy, flavorful patties that are sure to be a hit with your family and friends. Whether you prefer them for a quick weeknight meal or as a special occasion dish, these salmon patties are a delightful addition to your culinary repertoire.
