Provided by Lana Stuart

Categories     Main Dishes

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 9

4 pork chops
salt
pepper
½ cup all-purpose flour
¼ cup olive oil
24 ounces marinara sauce ((about 3 cups -- either homemade or purchased))
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
8 ounces spaghetti
Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Salt and pepper both sides of the pork chops. Sprinkle the flour over the chops to lightly coat them.
  • Heat the olive oil over medium-high heat in a large deep skillet.
  • Add the chops and cook until nicely browned on both sides. Work in batches if necessary to prevent crowding the pan.
  • Place the browned chops back into the skillet and pour over the marinara sauce.
  • Reduce the heat to a simmer. Cook until the chops are done all the way through (about 20 minutes).
  • Meanwhile, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the spaghetti according to the package directions.
  • When the spaghetti is done, remove the chops to a plate and cover with foil.
  • Add the red pepper flakes, if using, to the marinara sauce.
  • Drain the spaghetti and add it to the sauce. Toss to coat the spaghetti with the sauce. Add a small amount of the pasta cooking water if the marinara sauce is too thick.
  • Serve chops alongside spaghetti.
  • Top with grated Parmesan cheese.

Smothered in a creamy sauce with mushrooms, these pork chops and pasta made with Ultimate Hamburger Helper® will be a winner in your family!

Provided by By Betty Crocker Kitchens

Categories     Entree

Time 25m

Yield 5

Number Of Ingredients 7

5 pork loin chops, 1/2 inch thick (4 oz each)
2 teaspoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 package (8 oz) sliced mushrooms (3 cups)
1 3/4 cups milk
1 box Ultimate Hamburger Helper™ creamy stroganoff
Fresh parsley, if desired

Steps:

  • Heat 12-inch nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Add pork chops; cook about 2 minutes on each side or until slightly browned. Remove pork chops from skillet; set aside.
  • Reduce heat to medium. In same skillet, heat oil until hot. Add onion and mushrooms; cook 3 minutes, stirring frequently. Stir in milk and seasoning mix (from Ultimate Hamburger Helper box). Heat to boiling. Return pork chops to skillet; spoon some of the sauce over pork. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 9 to 11 minutes, stirring and turning pork chops occasionally, until pork is no longer pink in center.
  • Meanwhile, in 2-quart saucepan two thirds full of boiling water; add uncooked pasta (from Ultimate Hamburger Helper box). Return to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer uncovered about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender. Drain; cover to keep warm.
  • Stir cream sauce (from Ultimate Hamburger Helper box) into mixture in skillet. Cook, stirring constantly, just until hot. Serve pork chops and sauce mixture over pasta. Garnish with parsley.

Tips:

  • Use a good quality pork chop. Look for pork chops that are thick and juicy, with a good amount of marbling. This will ensure that they stay moist and flavorful during cooking.
  • Season the pork chops well. Before cooking, season the pork chops with salt, pepper, and any other desired spices. This will help to enhance their flavor.
  • Cook the pork chops over medium heat. This will help to prevent them from overcooking and becoming tough. If you cook them over high heat, they will brown too quickly and the inside will be undercooked.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure that the pork chops are cooked to the desired doneness. The internal temperature of the pork chops should be 145 degrees Fahrenheit for medium-rare, 160 degrees Fahrenheit for medium, and 170 degrees Fahrenheit for well-done.
  • Let the pork chops rest for a few minutes before serving. This will allow the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, resulting in a more tender and flavorful pork chop.
  • Serve the pork chops with your favorite sides. Some popular sides for pork chops include mashed potatoes, green beans, and applesauce.

Conclusion:

Smothered pork chops with pasta is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. The pork chops are juicy and flavorful, and the sauce is creamy and rich. The pasta adds a hearty and filling element to the dish. This recipe is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
