Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 5

25g butter
1 shallot, peeled and roughly chopped
200ml vegetable or chicken stock
400g frozen peas
small handful of mint leaves, chopped

Tips:

  • Select fresh, high-quality peas: Look for peas that are plump and have a vibrant green color. Avoid peas that are wrinkled or have brown spots.
  • Use unsalted butter: Unsalted butter allows you to control the amount of salt in the dish. If you use salted butter, be sure to reduce the amount of salt you add.
  • Cook the peas until they are tender but still have a slight bite: Overcooked peas will become mushy and lose their flavor.
  • Add the herbs and seasonings at the end of cooking: This will prevent them from losing their flavor.
  • Serve the peas immediately: Smashed buttery peas are best enjoyed fresh.

Conclusion:

Smashed buttery peas are a quick, easy, and delicious side dish that can be enjoyed with a variety of meals. They are a great way to add some extra vegetables to your diet and they are also a good source of fiber and protein. The next time you are looking for a healthy and flavorful side dish, give smashed buttery peas a try. You won't be disappointed!
